據報道，所有參加北京2008年奧運會馬術比賽的馬匹須通過海外檢疫中心7天隔離期，并獲得健康證明到達香港后，在香港本地再進行為期10天的觀察隔離。正式比賽前所有賽馬還須進行一系列繁瑣而復雜的.檢疫程序，包括測量體溫、驗血、尿檢等。所有這些檢疫項目為賽馬保持良好的競技狀態，在賽場上發揮出最佳水平提供了可靠保障。

Internationallyrecognizedexpertswillmakebodytemperature,bloodandurinecheckupstomakesurethehorsesarenotinfectedbyanyepidemicdiseases.

AfterenteringHongKong,thehorseswillagaingothrougha10-dayquarantinetoavoidcontactwithlocalhorsesandinfectionbyanydiseases.TheHongKongauthoritieswillprovideeachhorsewithasingleshed.Therearefivestables,eachcontainingover50suchsheds.Medicalserviceswillbeonhandforeachstable.SeriouscasescanbetreatedataHongKonghorsehospital.

Theparticipatinghorsesareusuallyaccompaniedandtakencareofbytheirownboys.However,HongKongisreadytoprovidesuchservicesifneeded.

Thehorses,ifinhealthycondition,canconducttrainingattheirrespectivestablesduringthequarantineperiod.Inaddition,theycantaketrainingforanotherweekbeforeparticipatingintheOlympiccompetition.
